About Us
AMEN Origins
Our AMEN group started in Avondale at Carmel Presbyterian Church in 2017. We first called ourselves “Avondale Moms Empowered to Nurse.” Avondale is a community with low breastfeeding rates.
What We Do
We originally met in person twice a month and our AMEN Champion moms provided peer-to-peer breastfeeding support and education to pregnant and postpartum moms. We added a second group in 2019 in Price Hill. We provided Kroger Gift Cards to attending mothers, refreshments, childcare and transportation.
We also invite special guests to attend the group to meet the needs of our Breastfeeding moms covering topics from Lead to Nutrition, Reading, Fathers and MORE!
How Far We Have Come
Since the beginning we have hosted over 900 participants and held 116 groups! We have enjoyed 25 guest speakers and 23 moms have additionally been trained as Community Transformers or Breastfriends through our collaboration with ROSE (Reaching Our Sisters Everywhere).
Moving With The Times
During COVID we started meeting weekly on ZOOM! We have partnered with All Children Thrive to distribute hygiene bundles to moms in need and are working on a new delivery plan now too!
